Is Group Nutrition Coaching Right For You?

Fitness is more fun – and often more successful – when it’s social! Why shouldn’t eating better be any different?

As a Nutrition Coach, I offer both 1-on-1 coaching as well as Group Coaching. While individual counseling is certainly beneficial, for some clients, a group format can be equally - if not more - effective!

A study from the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) found that participants in a group nutrition program lost 3X more weight than those going at it alone. The self-help group in the study regained all the weight they had lost, but participants in a structured group nutrition program kept off most of the pounds they shed.

For some, Group Coaching = higher success = better use of time and effort

The notion of “strength in numbers” certainly applies to nutrition coaching! For many, a group nutrition coaching program is more likely to achieve the desired results.

The main reason for success lies in the social support function of Group Coaching. We human beings are social by nature! We empathise. We crave shared experiences as well as working towards collective betterment – especially when the challenges are difficult. Uphill struggles – such as weight loss or healthy eating – can seem even more daunting when you’re going at it alone!

In contrast, having a social support network transforms frustrations, struggles and failed attempts into learning opportunities, words of encouragement and ultimately inspiring success stories. The key benefit of a social support network is the feeling of togetherness and overcoming hurdles and challenges together. Positivity and success are absolutely contagious!

Group Coaching can be done with just about anyone with a similar interest or goal. It can comprise of your friends, family, colleagues, your significant other, or even with a group of strangers.

Is Group Coaching right for you?

Simply put, group nutrition coaching may be just the thing for you if YOU...:

  • Enjoy the social support from others to help you reach your health goals

  • Enjoy meeting others with similar goals and interests

  • Enjoy learning from others and their personal experiences (while ensuring the information is accurate, which I would ensure as a moderator and facilitator!)

  • Get value from community support and accountability

  • Want to make critical lifestyle decisions (like better nutrition) with the support and encouragement from the people that know you best (friends, family or colleagues)

  • Want to 'dip your toes' in a nutrition program without 'diving in'

  • Prefer a structured nutrition program that is less costly than 1-on-1 coaching

Strength in Numbers: Mirko Fit Foodie launches 'Fit Foodie Boot Camp' to harness the power of group coaching

Grounded in the belief in 'strength in numbers', Mirko Fit Foodie has launched an innovative small group nutrition coaching program called the 'Fit Foodie Boot Camp'.

In a Group Coaching format, the Fit Foodie Boot Camp harnesses the power of togetherness - and places clients in a group with other people who are working towards similar nutrition goals.

Small group coaching contains the essential elements of a 1-on-1 coaching system: You will receive key (but overlooked) ingredients to success, work on one habit at a time, but scaled to your goals. You will ultimately work towards your long-term goals and recognise current limiting factors. What’s unique is the format.

In this format, Mirko Fit Foodie will lead a small group of clients (minimum 5). Each Boot Camp intake receives the following:

A. Four nutrition sessions (1 hour each). Mirko Fit Foodie will present the key elements or building blocks to healthy nutrition. This can be done in person (at a venue convenient to all) or even virtually. Topics will be structured around the Boot Camp intake's goals and may include:

  • Understanding the relationship between metabolism and the food you eat

  • How to critically read food/nutrition labels and choose the healthiest products on the grocery shelf; how to choose healthy alternatives to less-healthy food

  • How to improve your gut and liver health

  • Understanding the right-sized portions of "macronutrients" (carbs, protein, fats) for each person

B. Exclusive, interactive forum

In addition to the 4 group sessions, each Boot Camp participant will have access to an exclusive, interactive online forum (specifically created for their intake). In this online forum, participants will be encouraged to:

  • Ask questions

  • Share advice, personal experience, resources – or even their daily meals!

  • Share their struggles - and their successes!

  • Share their learnings from the previous lesson and how they are applying to their lifestyle

  • Mirko Fit Foodie will be there to moderate, answer questions and provide support through the course of the 4-week program.

Make that change, one small step at a time!
